We do like an alternative surf craft, we've been big bodysurfers for years, in fact we've probably ridden prone thanks to shooting film and photos for the lat 30 years more than standup so we appreciate all associated devices. Kiri Surfboards, based near Penzance, Cornwall has been chosen as one of 100 impressive small businesses from across the UK to mark the official count down to this year’s Small Business Saturday UK.
Kiri Surfboards was founded by Olaus McLeod early in 2020, to provide a sustainable alternative to the plastic-based surfboards and bodyboards, which pollute our beaches, coasts and oceans. Kiri was selected to be part of the campaign’s prestigious Small Biz 100 line-up, which showcases 100 inspirational small
businesses around the UK.
Now in its ninth year in the UK, Small Business Saturday celebrates small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support businesses in their communities. This year it is calling on the nation to share a ‘big thank you’ with small
firms to recognise their vital role throughout the pandemic.
Kiri Surfboards will be highlighted on social media on Thursday
30 September, 2021 as part of the 100-day countdown to
Business Saturday UK.

Small Business Saturday UK will return on 4 December 2021, following record-breaking success last year, which saw an estimated £1.1 billion spent with small businesses on the day
itself.
This year, ahead of the UN Climate Summit COP26 in Glasgow, the SmallBiz100 features small firms with a passion for sustainability, to demonstrate the important part small businesses play in tackling climate change and helping the UK to achieve net zero. Kiri Surfboards was established with the stated aim of donating a percentage of its profits to ocean regeneration projects. Kiri’s mission is to constantly improve its production methods and the materials it uses, to create the most environmentally friendly
surf products on the market. Kiri’s long-term ambition is to
become the go-to sustainable surf brand.
